Bodegas Vega de Yuco

Founded in 1997 in the wine village of Masdache, Vega de Yuco is a cooperative-style bodega built on grapes from more than 250 growers across La Geria and the surrounding Denominación de Origen.

The cellar sits among black lapilli fields between Timanfaya and the coast, and the brand's enoturismo runs from a second site two kilometres away at Finca Testeina, a manor-house and winery with documented roots in the 16th century. The portfolio is wide for the island — more than twenty references — but anchored on Malvasía Volcánica and Listán Negro under the Yaiza and Gara ranges, with sparkling Princesa Fayna from the near-extinct Diego grape and an oxidative Moscatel called Aurum aged in Hungarian oak. Yaiza bottles sit around €17, the more selective Gara line at €23–26, putting the house squarely in the everyday-to-special-occasion bracket. The setting does much of the work: vines tended in zocos, the volcanic cone of Timanfaya on the western horizon, traditional white architecture punctuating the vineyards.
